    Not Stag related

    Hopefully someone here can help.
I have a Vauxhall combo van - it has a 1.6 sohc 8v engine which runs on LPG. I have been getting mayo in the rocker cover- since buying it a year ago. I have bought a block tester kit and all is fine. My Local Garage is not too concerned as there is no mayo around the dip stick at all.

I have cleaned out all the breathers and the rocker. But it still occurs.

Most of the journeys I make are very short- (about 1.5 miles) so I am pretty sure it is a condensation problem. I recall reading somewhere about 'oil catch tanks' which can take moisture out of the breather system..

    Any thoughts chaps?

    Hi Darren

Have you got any mayo in the expansion cap? HGF if so?

Why not try changing the oil and filter and flushing the engine then take for a long drive 20 miles and see if it returns?

Those 8v vauxhall engines are prone to this problem,a few longer journeys and you will find all will be fine. I dont know why they suffer from this condensation problem but i have had a few 8v vauxhalls and they all had this but no ill effects for thousands of miles. Just keep a check on the water level from time to time.

Thanks guys--- No mayo in header tank or on dip stick. No loss of fluid!

Just too many short journeys then.

          Good old Vauxhall!

            Hi Darren,

Quite a lot of cars suffer from this and I have never bought the 'mayo = HGF' arguement. May be true in some cases, but far from a definite symptom.BL A & B series engines also used to have this when used only for short journeys.
