B/W35 Auto Box problems??

Sad day today,took the stag out for it's first real run this year,after about 10 miles I get a howling noise and vibration thorough the car at 60mph,the fluid in the gearbox was low,I topped it up and the noise/vibration has gone at speed.
But now I get the noise when taking up drive and if I rev in neutral or park.

Just had another listen and I'm not convinced it's the gearbox,it sounds as though it's coming from the water pump area :shock:

Sounds like a sea lion is stuck somewhere

Any ideas please?

Viscous coupling?

Is the jubilee clip on the bottom hose clear of the alternator fan? This can sometimes foul and sound quite alarming. Taking up the drive would alter the engine angle, especially if engine mountings are soft, and bring the alternator fan into contact with the clip.

Try taking the belts off and run the engine,that will eliminate the Fan, P/S Pump and Alternator.

Dave,I read your post before you edited it.
It is the viscous coupling,It's rattling,no resistance at all. I just tied it back, then started the engine and the noise I had is continuous.

Just need to decide who to buy one off.
