    BW 35

One for any Borg-Warner experts out there, I posted over the weekend about my cars second (in a year) small bout of incontinence over the weekend, it's not a problem, the amount it coughed up was quite small but it's the mess it leaves. The question is; does anyone know if the model 35 relies on the filler/dip stick tube as a second breather as I have found an easy / cheap way to form a good air tight seal which in theory should stop the problem.

    Comment and views please

    Hi Ian

I don't know the answer, but tell me how to seal it please if it's not a breather.
I've been thinking of fitting a hospital drip to mine to keep it topped up

    Cheers

      It's quite simple Steve,

I looked high and low at work in the stores and all around the workshop looking for a suitable bit of hose to make a rubber bush but couldn't find anything the right size until I looked in our wiring grommet selection box! perfect, the ID fits round the stick nicely and the OD is a nice interference fit in the tube, I have put a small cable tie under it to stop it staying in the tube when you pull the stick out.

        Cheers Ian,
We just need to find out if it's a breather.

I replaced my vent/breather line with a longer one and made the height (distance from the transmission to the top of the curve ) longer it curves just under the top of the bulkhead. I had to play with the level to get it just right.

I have already done a something similar so it's now longer and goes as high as possible.

The breather pipe should loop around the top of the brake servo and back down again. So you seem to have replaced it roughly where it should have been.
