    Hard Top Vinyl Roof

My Stag in the UK used to have a vinyl roof covering the hard top, I'm currently refurbishing mine as part of my aircon mod. (I need the hard top insummer asthe weather istoo hot and humid.)

I've seen a couple of pictures on the forum of cars with vinyl roofs.

I would like to know the measurement between the seams on the vinyl roof so I can get one made locally. If some one can post a pic that would be great.

    Thanks in advance,

    Raoul

I believe that vinyl roofs were a USA only dealer installed option. My Stag had one when I bought it out of Washington DC but I've removed it and NOTHING would persuade me to put it back on.:? but this photo might show where the seams were.

Hi rauol. One of my stags i got from Guernsey a 76 russet brown I have just measured the seems they are 245mm t.o the chrome water channel at the rear and195mm at the chrome dividing stip between door glass and quater light The length of the seam is245 mm to the top of the chrome water channel. these should enable you to get it approximately correct Hope this helps regards Tony

Thanks for this Tony, could you take one more measurement for me please? What is the distance between the two seams? Are they parallel to each other, if not ameasurement at the front and at the back of the roof would be most welcome.

        Thanks and regards,

        Raoul

Hi, Raoul .sorry iv'e not got back to you sooner. The seams are parrellel and are 760 mm apart .I know lots of stag owners don't favour vynal roofs but they were a part of 70's motoring . Mine is beige and i think looks good on my 78 russet brown stag.I have also used it on my white stag and looks ok as well.Regards Tony

mine is vinyl, second one i have had, i thought it was an easy option to have as a dealer back then. one item in stock that went with any car.

obviously mk2 cars had one as standard so would have been painted.

            just a thought

Raoul, 'Arbman Al' has one I know because I borrowed it. I think the combination of White car / black vinyl hardtop is a good one. Had a vinyl covered top with mine when I got it but most of the metal under the vinyl had disappeared. - Alan

PS finally had my back op last week but may be a time before I get the engine in
