    Soft Top Frame

    Hello all,

Nice sunny days had the motor in and out getting a great T shirt tan .

My question! when i fold the soft top frame down, there are two bars, one each side which catch the rear seat frame at high level, PDF attached, (you may have to scroll in or out as i cant get the blasted file size correct) should these members be straight or is the curve towards the rear seat frame correct, the bolts have ripped the rear cubby tops :Xwell annoyed £176 for new .

    can anyone please advise????

    Rob..

ah-ha - mine is exactly the same (with accompanying tears :X). I remember reading a post where it said these should be straight and could be removed to do this. It was probably VMad who said it as he seems to be our friendly hood expert...

kinda makes sense, you would not expect the bar to protrude from the plastic covers, so i shall now rip the f****rs off and attempt a repair along with procurement of replacement rear cubby panels:Xif nothing else you get a lot of time to sit and ponder.

Hey the sun is out and im off on my last visit of the day in my stag with the roof down who need a hood!!

            cheers

Rob the bar is of course supposed to be straight. Getting the bolts out can be a real pig, you need a very wide thin screwdriver and 3/16 spanner. You can usually get it almost straight without taking the bar off (which is good enough fora quick fix) by using a hooked pry bar to lever it straight.

Thereason they bend is because the bolts are dry and get too tight. Check all joints and make sure they are lubricated and free moving or it will happen again.
