The TVR Sound?

I have previously ownedtwo RV8 engined stags, and was disappointed with the sound of the standard exhaust.

Recently my friend Trev had a new bespoke exhaust made for his RV8 stag, and each time I drive it now it puts a big grin on my face. It has a very deep note, with a good burble, different from the TV8 engine, more like a TVR Chimera.

It just shows that it is possible to make the RV8 sound nice if you get the right system fitted.

I have had a number of RV8 s in various things over the years and I think they can sound very nice with the right system. My wife says they sound better than the Stag V8!!:shock:but then she also wants a Mustang! - perhaps size does matter:shock::shock:

you can do all you want with fancy exhaust systems, but the RV8 (BV8) will never sound as good as the TV8 you just can't match the burble, the RV8(BV8) may give better performance and much better reliability, but in the sounds stakes it comes a poor second to the triumph................and always will

For me the sound of the TV8 isn't just the exhaust note, its that overhead cam screamer of an engine sound that simply isn't possible with any pushrod engine. Modern overhead cam v8's are too noise controlled so they don't get that sound either. Nothing else that is or will likely ever be in my price range can match it. Just my opinion of course

Some of the TVR's sound amazing. I will balance that with the fact that some can sound like tug boats on tick overif they have a revvy CAM and no silencing but generally they sound awesome.

The straight six sounds good and has a turn of speed as well. You can tune over run pops and bangs into these engines as well

As for the the RV8 engine not sounding good, I can only speak for mine but I am very pleased with it.

My TV8 has a problem and I have thought about changing but will stick with the Triumph engine.

Graham, it's not that the Buick engine does not sound good, when set with a good exhaust system it can sound awesome (it is american) it's just never going to have the sweet burble of the Triumph

My mates got an early CBX,I should try to persuade him to put a 6 into 6 system on his,sounds very nice.
