The Forum & Innovation

Hi All

Just been reading the head puller posts from Tim and it got me thinking since the forum started how many items have we as a collective mentioned and then one of us has made it a reality and therefore securing the future of our cars

• V mad - Weber Conversion
• Stagdad - External Mechanical WP
• Several - Fuel Injection systems
• Windbreaker - Low cost

How many more are there as I will have missed loads and what a great thing the forum is as this would not have happened without the constant talking we do via this medium

Couldn't agree more, and I believe the key is "the collective" of the forum.

I discovered the forum whilst recovering from a major health problem and since then I have made many friends on here, some "virtual" and others in person. I would most likely not have kept my car but for the link to and support from this forum.

It's had it's moments but like all things, it has matured and developed into a real asset to the club.

My head puller is a result of Drew sharing his plans, Steve tacking it all up and a personal friend with an interest in cars having it made for me. I am only the middle man in it all I'm afraid.

I'm proud to be a member of this forum and will continue to be so for as long as I can.

It's actually quite an interesting subject for me as I work in a Corporate Strategic role looking at innovation and investment prioritisation within a global corporation.

It can be argued that exploitation is the catalyst to innovation and I think that is what we have on the forum. We have a group of people with few constraints who take many interesting ideas and thoughts and think them through to a conclusion which is ultimately taken up by others and, sometimes, improved. So begins the circle of innovation.

Sorry to be boring, but in a nutshell, that's what we have.

From a lifetime in innovation, the catalyst for innovation is simply 'need', and in the forums case more simply - desire:

Innovation = neat solution

Desire to go faster (Webers)

Desire to go more reliably (Water pump mod)

Desire to modernise (Fuel injection)

Desire to reduce extraneous noise (Windbreaker - reduces noise from SWMBO in passenger seat !)
