WYNNS Engine oil leak any good

Gent's whats your experiences using Wynns engine oil leak. Any good or just a waste of time??

Do you just drop it in and use or do you have to drop engine oil after X amount of miles??

Why do you need to use it! most Stag oil leaks are normally easy to cure apart from seals like the rear main !

I agree with Ian most leaks are really easy to cure by putting new gaskets/seal in place so why use it?

When I was underneath it looking at the work being done at the panel beaters I noticed that there seemed to be some oil coming from the bell housing. It definately was not auto transmission oil. The leak did not look very bad and there was no big pool where the car has been standing. Just thought I might chuck some of this stuff in when I get it back

Is it coming from the bottom of the bell housing or higher up, it may just be the R/C gaskets and 1/2 moon seals and running down the back of the engine.

Ian is this bad or do you think a spot of wynns would do the trick. Any advise would be helpful mate

If you have oil inside the bell housing and dripping out of the bottom and assuming it's engine oil, that is probably the rear crank seal. this means G/Box out to repair. As I said if it's running down and just collecting on the bottom of the bell housing then you need to wash all down and identify where it's coming from. with luck it will just be Rocker Covers, distributor seal or Oil switch.

Get some brake cleaner in a spray can and wash it all down.

If it is the rear seal it's worth a try for the sake of a couple of quid. all the other area's I suggested are easily fixed for a permanent repair. The other thing is if your car is a manual the oil could contaminate the clutch and eventually cause it to slip.

Ian it's an auto, but the greeving thing is the auto box was removed in March fully overhauled and re-installed. So I'm reluctand to rip it all out again until the winter months come along

I think you need to drive more carefully. You've obviously run over a lot of black cats since you bought your Stag - I don't know how else to explain the luck you've been having lately.
