My Zip has busted.....(I don't mean on my jeans)

    Hi All.

It finally has happened, my zip has busted.....Poohey.

Does anyone know if you can get hold off an extra strong zipper for the rear window.

    Paul.

    Hi Paul

My zip broke on holiday in France last week

with the risk of not being able to fix the rear window in place I decided to have a go at repairing it

I carefully unpicked the stitching at the begining of the zip with the hood and pulled out the tail ends with some long nose pliers.

with the help of other members and the long nose pliers to hold both sides of the zip I was able to get the zipper back onto both sections of the zip

A little WD40 sprayed over the zip and the loose ends tuck back out of site and a zip that works again

I have also learnt that the best way to erect the hood is to zip the rear window up before latching the rear catch ( I used to latch the catch first then zipped the window up which strained the zip)

    hope you have luck

This happened to me . to fix it I found a new zip puller from an old jacket

I then cut in to the zip near the beginning , and fed the puller in (this takes time and patience) then when it was finally working I sewed the cut up so that it couldn't open again

It has been working ever since . trick was finding trick was finding the right puller

      Hope this helps

I've never unzipped my window. I just roll up a towel and place it in the fold when putting the roof away.

Just ordered a new 8mm zip from Aldridge trimming, should be here tomorrow.

Hood is off the frame waiting to go to the trimmers.

Not so far, and it has only been up about 4 times in the last year

Neither have I. Gets a little creased but that soon levels out when the hood is under tension. I also roll up a towel and put it in the fold prior to stowing.
