    Is this what you mean?
Probably, bill. But the document I have came from Buckeye Triumphs and contain a lot of useful info on carb overhaul and tuning, including photos and diagrams. It is over 600K, so too large to post here. I have looked at the Buckeye Triumph website (http://www.buckeyetriumphs.org/index.htm)and can't see a link to it now.

Anyhow, enough Forum for now. We are off out to lunch, and then the airport as me and SWMBO are off to Paris for a week. See you in 2008. Happy New Year to all.

I have put the carbs back together and set the tick over with the anti tamper idle screws at 750 rpm the reading is 10 kg/h. I can't get it any lower than this unless the tick over is set below the recommended 650rpm!

Just for information the anti tamper idle screw has a 10 x 32 UNF 2B thread (got the thread gauges!).

I followed the procedure in the ROM for synchronising the carbs and my carbs seem to be set correctly. However the ROM does not tell you what reading you should get just they should be equal:?.

Anyway my car isnow going again so I'm going for a nice long drive tomorrow with the wife and kids, what better way to welcome a New Year in?

Here's a new pic of the car with the hard top on.

Thanks to DJT I have found some new tamper proof screws for the Strombergs from Burlen fuel systems.

The part number you require is B20365 - screw priced at £3.01 + VAT and Nut B20366 priced at £0.98 + p+p + VAT.

Thanks Dave for invaluable knowledge and help just what a forum is all about

            Hi All.

Is there anyone around the Wiltshire area who could chck and balance my carbs??

I just got ripped off at a local garage for 60 quid and when I picked the car up I broke down less than half a mile up the road on a very busy roundabout thankfully someone helped me push the car to safety. When i looked under the bonnet as it would not refire I spotted 3 plug leads were fitted in the wrong place and I think the the coil burnt out. I replaced coil etc and car started and I got home!!!

However despite fitting new plugs and leads, dizzy cap, rotor arm etc it still seems to run very rich as a lot of black soot around tail pipes. Also seems to struggle stil at low revs before picking up spedd once at 40 plus very smoth but drinking fuel although there are no fuel leaks.

I was womdering since the engine was decoked during rebuild if the carb settings need re-adjusting? so if anyone could help I would be most grateful.

            With regards,

            Paul

              Paul,

Earlier in this thread I pointed to Burlen Fuel Systems (http://www.burlen.co.uk/) they are in Wiltshire and specialists on all things SU/Zenith/Stromberg.

They may be able to point you in the right direction.

Just a little of info guys,

If your deciding to purchase a carb adjusting tool from a said company ( begins with R) hold fire for a moment, as i purchased one few days ago & the end wont locate into the top of the needle. Went in & tried all of their available tools to no avail, so they are now on to their supplier

                  Baz

Get one from Burlen. It will be the correct item.
