head gasket replacement

Hi gents,

i am currently having my h/gaskets done, i want to upgrade the radiator and hoses as they look well past their best, i tried to order a supergill one from Tony Hart (guess what !) out of stock due to heavy demand since the wheeler dealer show .

Any recomendations as to alternatives and hose types would be most welcome, thanks in advance .

Have you tried EJ Wards ? they list the supergill, and i think they also do an Ali rad which is suposed to be the business (but has a large price tag!)

for the hoses, if going for regular ones make sure they are braided/reinforced - not Kevlar - most suppliers stock them. Other option is silicone, again a bit more pricey.

if it were me i'd be happy with regular braided hoses and a supergill - but the ali rad does look cool

Not only looks cool, it is cool, I know it's pricey but other ali rads are much dearer. A fast run to Luton on Sunday got her up to 85 to 88c, previously would have got 95c and heat sink after switching off would have gone to 110c, that now goes to about 98c. Worth every penny. :dude: Martin.

I've got a Rimmer 4 row rad - it's fine......

By the way Martin...... it must be a right pain in the arse having to open the bonnet to re-tune the radio........

Like it That was the adjuster for the old fan switch. M.

Hi Guys.

Just be aware I have purchased a 4 core from robsport, great service and all that but tried to fit it last night and the bottom plinth (the bit the bolts come out of )hasbeen remanufactured the wrong way round! So the rad sits scew wiff!!!:shock: Not a happy bunny, but they are replacing it for me.

Let you know what happens.......

Martin,

I do like the look of your ali rad, but as i don't know what my final repair bill is going to be (just addedt/chains to repair bill)i have gone for a uprated 4 core from rimmers, somewhat cheaper but hopefully more than up to the job.
