I did something very similar - My tires were looking 'grey' compared to many other staggers cars so I bought from a stall at the show a £2.50 bottle of silicone gel and rubbed them up thoroughly. They looked brilliant but I doubt I'll live down the heckling about how 'dirty' my car always appears to be now!
