    What is this for?

    Hi Guys

Couldn't really see why this was therewhen i had my gearbox apart. Is it needed as I'm looking at making a replacement to hold a hydraulic release bearing and don't want to over complicate it if it's not needed.

Hi Steve, when the cover is fitted is the slot at 6 O'clock and does it line up with anything on the gearbox. I'm thinking along the lines of oil return! or it may be like a weep hole on a water pump to show the seal has failed. never had one apart so just letting you have my thoughts.

Hi Ian ,can't remember what the box looked lie but i'm sure there was nothing obvious that it had to line up with.

        Hi Steve,

I dont know if you have bought anything yet but the guys at Enginuity are convinced they have a simple solution to our clutch problems. They had a lot of the part made for the TR's and are close to finalising the alterations to that for the Stag - circa £40....

interesting..... which components have they had made ? keep us updated....

i see from the CT thread that Mike managed to get his hydraulic release bearing set up working well so the path Steve is treading should work nicely - although i suspect more than £40

A bronze (may have been phosporus) release bearing carrier. I didnt even tell him the problem and he used the word guarantee:shock:which was a bit of a shock to me.

Proberbly more but not as much as that Bearing on the CT thread which was about £250 just for the bearing.I'm thinking of a mainstream bearing not a retro hotrod job.

              Cheers Steve

Thanks Graham for that heads up ,I'll keep a look out. Still like the idea of the Hydraulic bearing though, partly as an exercise.
