Hi all
Bit of a difficult question to answer as there are so many variables, but am picking my stag up tomorrow having had the lights done and I could do with a ball park figure to potentially 'discuss' the price with the guy who has taken two weeks:?to sort the problem and I want to have a bit of ammo to hand in case he tells me that it was a huge job and that's just how long it takes (if that makes sence) - I don't want to rip the guy off at all, just make sure he is not ripping me off.
The lights were not working at all properly - head on near side not working, and when you then turned the lights off, the dips came on??? Anyway, the wiring was pretty grim (alot of additions over the years - previous owners) and so I asked the mechanic (classic car guy but not stag specialist) to try to sort it out simply, but if not getting anywhere, then to just start a new. After spending more time trying to get the existing wiring to work than I had envisaged, and then giving up on it, he has nowrewired them (after adding a new head/dip switch and earth leadwhich I got for him as well), and now it's ready (tomorrow) but I am slightly concerned that the bill may be 6,7,£800 or more at £35/hr for at least 3 days work in that 2 week period if not even more. So as I said before I started boring you all is,.. if he had been any good at his job, how much time should it have taken a 'competent' mechanic?
Any vague suggestions would be very much appreciated
Regards
