    fuel pump service kit

today I lost 1/2 tanks of petrol around the village of Haynes on the Haynes 100 classic run

On return to the event field petrol was pouring out of the rear side wing badge, and all along the bottom of the boot.

On dismanteling the boot side trim the fuel pump was leaking what seamed all over

when I took it of it looked like the top of the fuel smoothing device was leaking around the lid and a pail blue piece of plastic was visible when I took the Bango connection off.

I remover the four srews to find the rummer O ring was about 6mm larger in diamiter

Petrol had soaked it and it had expanded The thin diaphragm was distorted and would not sit in the ring and the PU washer was too big as well

I managed to make an emergancy repair but would like to get these three parts

LD parts, Paddocks and Rimmers do not list them

Any Ideas where I might get the service bits from

    Many Thanks

    Roger

Perhaps I have misunderstood your problems but I am always buying replacement washers for the banjos.

Hiya Roger, Burlen Fuel Systems, they now own SU and supply all the parts. Google the name and you'll find it straight away. Martin.

Wouldn't it be better simply to purchase a new pump? Loosing half a tank of petrol is well on the way towards the cost of a new pump.

You would need to check I have found the correct pump, but here is an exploded view of the pump and a spare parts list.

                    Hi

I had a very similar problem to yours, although I didn't lose any where near as much petrol.

It seemed that the previos owner had fitted a new fuel pump but not the correct one ( a cheap repro I'd say)and despite various O rings etc I could not get it fuel tight.

In the end I bought new one from Burlen in Salisbury. It cost about £80.00 I think. You cannot mess about with fuel leaks and for the cost of a new one- very cheap for peace of mind
