    Engine hoist

Just bought myself a spare engine and plan to spend some time rebuilding it. I did a quick search on the forum and found a recommendation for an engine stand but cannot seem to find anything for a hoist. I need a floor standing one, not roof mounted so anyone with any thoughts or experiences please help.

Would that be the engine off E bay recently with a snapped head bolt etc? Wentfairly cheap if I remember correctly, SWMBO wouldn't let me bid on it as she wouldn't see me again once I'd got it in the shed!!!!!

As for engine hoists try Machine mart etc the have some nice engine stands and hoists.

Tim, Do you really want to buy an engine hoist or do you just need to use one? I am 10 miles away and you are very welcome to borrow mine I cannot see me using it in the nextfew of months.

Buying always seems to be a good idea but they take up a lot of space when you are not using them which is most of the time!

PS I have used it to remove the Stag engine gearbox so I know it can handle it!

        Stuart,

You are indeed correct. I'm sure that as it was a private bid auction I competed with someone on here and paid slightly more , but at the end of the day I'm happy with the cost. You may have seen on a previous thread I have a mixture of a MK1 & MKII heads on my engine so at worst, I have a set of matched heads that I can refurbish.

My wife actually pushed me to spend more than I originally wanted to . Maybe she's not happy with me being away most of the week, and now wants me out in the shed for the remaining night .

Now I have to get the engine home.......

          Alan,

Thanks for the offer . I would be very happy to accept as I simply need it to get the engine onto a stand. ThisI do need to purchase as it will take me a while to do the work and they are not expensive. Maybe you can PM me with your contact details and we can arrange some time soon. I can get over to you any time.

          Many thanks

Quite Dave, exactly the conversation I had with my wife after I received alan's offer. I have to say that it made my day.
