X-Type Jag problem - Boot won't open!

Hi all,

Does anyone on hear have any experience with X-Type Jags? I think the solenoid that opens the boot is on the blink and I can't open the dam thing. Any ideas? My Shredded wheat is in the boot and I haven't got any breakfast tomorrow if I can't get the boot open .

Not the birthday present I really wanted from my car today :shock:

Gas axe

It's the only thing a Ford - sorry Jaguar - understands

If you have a loaf of bread in there, the gas axe will toast it for you too....

I don't car if it is a Ford or a Jaguar at the moment, I have had enough big car bills this year I don't want another!

I have my car ramps stashed in the boot at the moment so I can't work on the Stag either.

Panic over!

Boot lock solenoid decided to move just one last time so I now have a piece of string attached to the lock inside the car!!

dont know if this will help, when mine used to freeze up on the BMW i sprayed WD inside the lock to get to the solinoid, boot up, then just gave it a bang when it played up, over engineered i think.

I had opposite problem with X-Type estate tailgate glassthat used to pop open every time the ignition was switched on. Bl**dy annoying, ended up costing £50 for a new switch / lock mechanism.

I have been searching the web for a replacement bit. The only second hand one I could find was £25 so I dread to think what a new one will cost. It seems to be the same as a MKIII Mondeo so I will try a ford garage tomorrow.

£50 is cheap compared to BMW prices. The tailgate glass on my 330d touring stopped working on the button below the wiper. Certainly sir, that'll be £550 fitted for a whole new glass as the contact strip is broken.

i fixed the heated rear window with a kit i bought off line, you just paint it on and it didnt cost much have you thought about that for your contact strip, if it works for a heated window it should work for a contact strip, just a thought
