E10 Fuel, Ethanol and the end of the world

Any experts here who have gone through the E10 saga for the Stag?

Will the heads dissolve, the fuel pumps decompose and the fuel lines have the permeability of a wet paper handkerchief?

not an expert but this blend has been widley available for some time outside the uk and for a number of years .even more common is the e85 and very little documented evidence to suggest it eats engines and their fuel systems .but also evidence suggests that emmisions of greenhouse gasses drop by ave 2p/cent but alarmingly evaporative losses bump that back up again.

would be interested to learn more especialy as certain uk supermarket chains are using it in their fuel i am led to believe.............steve

Brazil seems to have had it for years and, interestingly, at least Alfa Romeo have different engine versions for the Brazil market.

A friend in Germany is trying to find out more as it is being introduced here and he builds his own planes (microlights) and is a bit concerned about fuel pumps failing!!

Word on the street is that, if you fill up with Super Plus or 4-Star plus or whatever the tradename is, then it has the old 5% Ethanol mix.
