I love these things...... I've got loads of spam in my gmail spam folder offering millions! Mostly from Nigerian banks and widows.

I work in IT and design backend datacentre systems for a living.. done quite a few banks and blue chip companies, but even I've been caught once.... bloody Ebay mail. The next thing I knew, I was selling Diamonds in California. At least Ebay spotted it within a day. I wish I had been selling them though... I'd be rich.

Perhaps worth mentioning that my debit card details have been stolen, luckily the bank picked it up early, but it's still cost me a couple of hundred quid. I NEVER use it online, and only at local shops. Who knows, these ba****ds get everywhere. :? Martin.

its up to you but I recommend that you never use a debit car in a petrol station or independant convinience store.

Your absolutely right on that one, but it's getting to the point where we can't use a card anywhere! We've had info on a bogus company that are going out and fitting a different chipset in the chip pin reader.... captures card details and pin! Big problem in little independant petrol stations and shops in Brum. They go in, do an upgrade, and come back later to "check"!

I've got a corporate AMEX... I'm just fighting at the moment someone in Mexico who hired a car from Hertz and got away with doing it under a different name, using my card details!

I had it with MBNA a couple of years back and, apart from a problem getting hold of a real human being rather than endless computer messages, they were brilliant.

They refunded every penny and then paid me interest on top . I hope it goes as well for you.

It all took a month or two and, I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. At the end of the day, it's not their fault that there's crooks about.

                          Cheers

                          Julian

No, but it's the banks fault for not having a more secure system to prevent it happening in the first place.

A few years ago I left my card on the counter in a petrol garage. It was a couple of days before I realised I had lost it. In the mean time someone had been on a spending spree to the tune of nearly £2000

The bank (Lloyds) said to go through the bank statement and note everything that was not mine, and they would pay me back.

                            Couldn't complain at that.

My Wife had her card stolen. I never bothered to report it, as the thief spent less than she did.
