    Stag Insurance Cover

I cannot get Classic Car insurance in Tenerife and my insurance was up for renewal a few days ago. I have been shopping around as up to now I have been paying over €400 a year for third party only cover, and I have just found out that regardless of what value I put on my car, I would only get €880 for it if it was stolen or written off.
That is the write off value the Spanish Traffic Authorities put on the car - based purely on age.
I have therfore swapped to another Insurance company who only want a quarter of what I was previously paying. Still only get third party cover, but it does include breakdown cover.
Just wondered what other "overseas" members pay for Insurance & what type of cover they get?

Just taken out a policy with Lancaster Insurance. fully comp £119.43 Agreed value £14k limited to 10,000 miles, includes green card 90 days, legal cover, £350 excess, £100 fire theft excess, windscreen £60, SD&P + to/from work, Husband & wife

      Motor Premium £66.93
      Legal Assistance £22.50
      Agreed Valuation £15.00

Not sure if you have to include the legal cover I missed it on he quote and would have dropped it if I had been paying attention.
Are they any good? If I make a claim ill let you know.
sorry Terry no help but could help others

Unfortunately it’s not overseas enough as you northerners insist on swarming down here and blocking all the roads and driving at 12 mph on 60 mph roads

Ive been with the Clubs insurer since I owned the car, it has crept up every year and this year hit £160, which included a £12k agreed valuation and 3000 miles limited mileage.

I decided to shop around and got it through Adrian Flux brokers for £99. It didnt have the breakdown cover ( however I had this on my Natwest Black Card anyway ) but it did have legal cover.

Phoned the club insurers to see if they could do anything and they said no. They then phoned me afterI switched to see why Ihadnt renewed !!

              So worth shopping around

I really wanted to know from people living in France, Germany, Benelux Countries, Netherlands & Spain etc, if they have been able to get agreed value cover on their Stags. No British company that I know of wants to know when I mention Tenerife.
Although I cannot get decent Insurance here, there are other compensations such as cheaper petrol, no road tax (once over 30), and MOT once only every 5 years (once over 35). And of course there is the weather and cheaper wine & beer (between €1 & €1.50 a pint).

PS. PC not a Stag issue - but I have now swapped to Windows 7 Professional from Windows Vista Home Premium. I like it better, seems simpler and faster, but what a palaver I had moving to W7 as I could not "upgrade" , only "Install" as though it were a new PC. Got there in the end, but beware any of you who have Acer PCs and use their eRecovery software for back up. You will have to swap to other back-up software prior to moving Operating systems as eRecovery is not available with W7.

                  Terry

I have just done the same upgrade, albeit not on an Acer. It took me a little under 1 week to get it to where I wanted it. Although Windows 7 is fantastic I wouldnt recommend anyone without a decentIT knowledge to undertake the task.

I know a fair bit about pc's but next time I think I would pay someone to do it for me.

My tip is that once you have upgraded from the disk make sure you obtain all of the updates from the microsoft sight for windows PRIOR to trying to load any software. I didnt and it just kept crashing the machine. I did about 4 installs before I realised what the problem was.
