Dear Members

Recently we have managed to purchase a couple of NOS panels off ebay which may be useful to us in future projects.

There must be hundreds of simular items laying around in sheds and lofts, saved for that restoration that never happened or for a car that was subsequently sold.

NOS panels and parts can be a great find for the Club and Soctfl as they can be used as reference panels and parts for future projects.

So if you do have a part or panel that either you would like to donate to the club or simply make us aware of for future projects then we can start to build a list of where these panels are.

Simply PMus with the details of the part and your contact details.

Hi SOCTFL,

Do you have a list of the panels that you already hold so you aren't bombarded with suggestions of panels that you already have!

There is an O/S Complete inner wing panel on ebay at the moment that might be of interest.

The panels that SOCTFL currently have are really onlythe ones thatrelate to those that have been a SOCTFL project in the past and these are not NOS items but simply one of the SOCTFL remaufactured panels that we have kept for display purposes.These consist of

813360/1 Rain Gutters

907175/6 Rear inner Wheel Arches

907265/6 Front Inner Wheel Arches

907256 Floor Pans

907074/5 Rear Wings (NOS)

813317/8 Front Chassis Legs (NOS)

StagnJag - Thank you for the tip off on the Ebay panel, we will keep an eye on it.

We look forward to hearing from anyone with panels or parts that are original. Just knowing where these items are would be of great interest to the club as it is often possible to simply scan the items or take detailed measurements from the original without having to damage it in anyway.

Just out of curiosity, what does "keep an eye on it" mean?

It's not an auction. It's a shop. They have one rare original panel to sell. The price is shown. It can be bought now or it can be left for someone else to buy.

I'm not voicing an opinion whether you should buy it or not, but am genuinely interested in learning how things work in the SOCTFL.

Thank you, we are aware of the difference between the auctions and the buy it now options.Auctions tend to start at a low level and then find there own price depending on demand.Sometimes people try to sell an item on a buy it now basis, putting it on at a reasonably high price on the hope that someone is desperate enough to pay that price. Whilst we do not see this item as overpriced it is also not "a steal".

The panel in question is not a part that is likely to be needed by the majority of stag owners and will probably only be required following a crash.And whilstit is not a part readily available they have been seen for sale.

As we have only just purchased the rare windscreen surround and the front chassis legs then we intend toleave this onefor the time being. It may be relisted at a lower price or we may contact the seller directly. Whilst the idea of knowing where various parts are that could be used for future projects it is not our intention to tie up monies in parts that are unlikely to be ofbenefit to the member.

Please however continue to inform us of any panels or parts you are aware of for us to consider.

Thanks for the reply. Your argumentation is infallible. I didn't see the part is being a significant price compared to the SOC 6-figure bank balance, hence my misunderstanding of the hesitation.

I appreciate that it is a part which is seldom required. On a long term basis, however, I would think that the part would only increase in value and would be resellable in several years for at least that price if no longer required although, seeing so many Stag owners that have had their car from new (or similar age) perhaps the future will see a decline in Stag interest.

I am not an expert, but I would have thought in general that such parts could be bought and laser mapped or moulds taken or whatever is needed to produce a later copy and then sold back into the market again.

Just out of curiosity, and while you're at the keyboard, can you offer an update on the cylinder head progress?

Martin at Just Triumph was advertising NOS rear chassis legs recently on e-bay dont think they sold, might be worth contacting him for a buy it now price.

The club website still says "Nearly Ready" as it has done for 12 months or more and the completion has never been mentioned in the mag as far as I know.

I'm confident that i have described the current situation correctly (i don't think updating the website is a priority )

Why not give Abinger Hammer a call to check - just in case things have gone backwards in the last few months
