    Dashboard - Warning Cluster

    I need some more advice.

In the warning cluster, the choke, indicators, low fuel light, beam warning all work perfectly. The ignition warning light does not. I have changed bulbs and indeed put in a spare unit all to no avail.

Has anyone got any ideas, all contacts etc are good and clean.

    Any help appreciated.

Clean the terminals on the back of the alternator (and regulator if you've got a Mk1), if that doesn't work do the same with the connections on the ignition switch . If it still doesn't work you'll need to sytematically check the continuity of the wiring from the ignition circuit to the alternator.

I agree with seaside bill's diagnoses, but in addition check to see if you alternators charging as a defective unit can give you the symtoms you exhibit.

A quick test of the light is to short the brown/yellow wire at the alternator to earth - should come on when you do this......
