Water Pump Alternatives

Hi,

I was looking into some back issues on the forum and came across the water pump kit from StagDad. I am interested to know the advantages of this solution over the David CraigElectronic solutions.

Why would one choose one solution over the other approach?

From what I understand if you have the electronic one you also need an extra pump for the heater as thebypass no longer works? But you can leave it running after the engine has stopped to help with heat soak

The kit from Steve has the bypass plumed in so works like the original but does not wrecked your engine when it fails!

Have a look at Stagdads external pump system. I had a good look at his installation the other day and found it to be well thought out and brilliantly executed. He can do you a kit that will be very much cheaper than the electric pump.

Frankly I would highly recommend it (I'm not being paid to say this!)

having followed various details of both on here and a bit in the mag - if I do fit one it will be one of Steve's kits - it looks amore simpleand would appear to work better. There also seem to besome happy customers on here who are pleased with it.

Currently I an reluctant to touch anything in this area at the moment as it is going so good, no leaks in the V so probably should not touch a system that is running well at the moment especially in the summer.

I had the Jackshaft issue about three years ago and I replaced the Jackshaft and Waterpump got all from E J Wards, so suspect it to be ok but if I do decide to change I wasactully interested in what were the pros and cons of the two solutions.

I'll likely go electric if I have problems but only because I spent a lot of cash on an ewp110 and controller, and heater flow pump which has been collecting dust for a couple of years.........

Pro's and cons against the Ewp

Pros


1. No wiring
2. Cheaper
3. heater works as normal (no extra pump needed) although you could do the same pipework for an electric setup.
4. None of this drilling holes in the thermostat
5. All the mounting and positioning work done (you still have to make the Ewp fit and not foul anything.)

Cons


1. No overrun option
2. Maybe not as much flow as the 110 unit.
