    wiring for instruments

    Hi Everyone

I have put my instrument panel back having disconnected the wires in a rebuild. I thought I had written it all down but for reasons I won't bore you with no notes had been made.

I think I have reconnected the instruments properly using the wiring diagram in the repair manual but I cannot be sure which terminals match which colour cables and I am concerned about accidentally transposing the wires on the terminals of each instrument and blowing something!

Does anyone out there with a Mk2 1975 know which wire goes to which terminal on the instruments please? For sake of clarity imagine the dash is upright in front of you balanced on the steering column IE Voltmeter top left and the terminals are referenced from looking at the glass face of the instrument concerned.

A mad request I know so I apologise in advance - and yes I do feel a bit silly!! Thanks for reading this and your help.

    Nik

      Hi Nik

I had all of my dash out a couple of months ago and I made a very rough diagram ofwhat went where.

I've just looked back and my diagram isalmost illegible :?however if you'd like to PM me your email address, I can scan it and send it to you.

      Cheers

      Julian

Here are my notes from when I removed the dash from my 1974 Mark 2. Hopefully they will be of use to you.

All views taken from the rear of each gauge.

        Voltmeter

        bottom left : double white

        bottom right : double black

        top : bulb holder

        Temperature Gauge

        bottom left : blue

bottom right : greentop : bulb holder

        Clock

        bottom : purple

        top : spare?

        right : bulb holder

        Fuel Gauge

        left : green

        right : green

        top : bulb holder

        Rev Counter

        top : bulb holder

        bottom : black

        right upper : double green

        right lower : grey/white

        Speedo

        top : bulb holder

        bottom : black

        far right : single green

        middle right : double green

right nearest centre : double green

        Warning Light Cluster

        simply refit the plug

        Dimmer Switch

        bottom : red black

        middle : red/white

        top : red/white

In the end I did not use the info myself. I have fitted a Mark 1 dash in the car as the walnut in my donor car was mint and I prefer the look of a Mark 1's gauges.

        Regards

        Bruce

Here is a coloured wiring diagram that might also help although what Bruce has given will most likely get you sorted.

Yeah but I take no credit for it Nik. Another forum member did this a while back and thought it well worth keeping.

                      Good luck with the wiring.
