    Engine Mounts

Do I have to remove the steering rack to change the nearside engine mount? Engine is in car but lifted on tackle. I can't seem to get any room to swing a spanner to remove the lower nut holding the mount in place. Mike.

I have only one bolt on my RH engine mount as there was no way to get it in without undoing the steering rack, and I just couldnt be bothered. I will keep an eye on it

It seems the only way to do this job with engine in, is to remove exhaust manifolds and go in from above. Sod of a job removing middle manifold. Looks like plenty of copper ease and a bottle of gin Oh and a pair of half chaps on the arms. Mike

Just completed changing the nearside mount. For the record for any other victim of advisory notes. All needs to be done from above. You will need a 2" /3"extension on a 9/16th to get to the nuts on the middle manifold. Allow at least5 sober hours. Oh and a hoist of some type. What a difference it has made. Engine alot more stable. The original mount had twisted out of recognition. The game goes on.
