    have you tried the kickdown cable, also as others have said the tickover can affect the kickdown, have played with mine a bit and noticed the kickdown at slow speed, raised my tickover to about 700 to 800 rpm, it did improve it. i have the type 65 box. all the adjustment has been used up on the cable too, i think the gap should be about 0.8 mm on the kickdown cable.

      yeah - I had the same with the kickdown cable. it was preventing me from dropping the idle. Ended up carefully cutting away a bit of the outer so I could get some more adjustment out of it. It's probably something bent in my throttle linkages but as the engine is running nicely I didn't want to disturb... Everything responds much nicer now (or it will when I get my brakes back together!)

      you can test easily enough by disconnecting the kickdown cable completely.
