I also fully agree with Alan and Bob's comments, but if you have a snapped off BOLT then you will have to remove this first as the head will not slide up the studs without the bolts removed, they lock against one another. The only way I have ever removed a snapped bolt was by drilling out but only down to the block face. I have never had any success with the rope trick. I ended up making 2 plates that bolted to the inlet faces of the head and then used a 3 ton bottle jack to push the head up so that I could cut the studs off.
