    T Bar bolts

I was trying to helplocate a rattle for a fellow stag owner today and noticed that one of his t-bar bolts was loose and the other wasnt tight either.. After tightening his, we checked mine and they could of been tighter as well!

Assuming that tight is best, it may be worth checking yours?

    Hi Graham,
I fitted a new T bar last week, and the thread in the metal plate which holds the bolt on the drivers side has stripped. Not an easy one to solve, as the metal is not very thick that the T bar bolt screws into.
Another 20 minute job on a Stag on which I spent over an hour fitting the bar, and trying to line up the various bolts.
Any ideas on how to solve the stripped thread in the metal would be much appreviated.
    Thanks,
    Peter

No need to be shy Graham... that would be my bucket of bolts he was tinkering with.

Maybe it's the new louder exhaust that's rattling it all apart, and causing that loud rubbing noise when I go over uneven roads.

I now have several assorted squeaks and rattles to sort out so am starting with rebuilding the front struts.

To Graham's horror, I'm holding out on getting some rust sorted as I can't bear having my car holed up for 2 months over the summer period (there always seem to be a reason for overrunning by double + initial quoted time to fix...)

          hi Steve,

understood the rust delay but not the other job! Did you get the other parts ordered in time?

Changed my mind on the strut inserts, so am now going with standard ones but also added to the list "anything and everything that could need changing" on the struts - I'm sure I could hear the guy smiling over the phone when I said that! Should arrive in a couple of days.

Have read a few other posts on replacing the strut inserts (invaluable as some include pics and also go into questions of where the online rom falls short - another invaluable resource!), so have duly ordered off eBay some dumdum, already have coil spring compressor, and have bookmarked the topic mentioning how to undo one of the nuts, that may or may not be staked. Will find out soon.
