    Hi All,
thanks very much for all your replies, I have these nuts welded in to the wheel arch, as shown in the picture, so I will use them now and weld up the others, I’m sure I’ve read somewhere that the belt comes out through the interior side panels, but can’t find that now,

      Hi All
i have been away from my project for a while, due to working away from home, but now I’m back on it but having a break from the welding, so I decided to strip out a few remaining parts left on the car, heater, steering column and remaining wiring….. when I removed the steering column I noticed it was very loose, very easy to slide up and down, on further inspection I noticed no bushes or bearings, in fact nothing at all,
I have had a look in the brothers catalogue and although it lists different bushes x2 and bearings x2 and a list of other bits and pieces, it does not show exactly where they should go,
could someone in the know please put together a quick sketch of what’s needed and where to put these bushes and bearings, I also notice a new locking ring for the column, I think fits in the top, is this needed or an add on??

      As always many thanks

        Hi All,
I have stripped off all the remaining suspension parts today, front and back which leaves me a clear path to start welding up the chassis, I just wanted to get your take on these diff locating pins… if they are no longer available what do you guys do?. I did manage to undo the nuts, but the pins are quite rusty, my thoughts are either clean them up and weld in any pits, and grind down to size again, or grind down and shim them with a bit of tubing and weld together…..
        any advice would be great,

        many thanks
        Luigi

Would anyone out there have the size and dimensions for these pins? I may be able to get a couple machined up???

            Hi All,
I have been cleaning up and painting the rear sub frame, and rebuilding the diff, just to get things ready for re-assembly,, got a little tired of welding and patching in for the minute,
when I started cleaning up the sub frame I noticed the bolt holes on the end which connect to the diff have become elongated….. is this an issue that needs sorting?

            as usual all advice welcome

              Hi Luigi,

this is a problem which causes excessive negative camber on the rear wheels, you may have been suffering this before you stripped the car down.

Two way round it - buy some new arms which have had the holes welded with tubes between the two halves or DIY but you need to get them right if you DIY as obviously if the holes are in the wrong place the geometry will be compromised.

                Hi Mike,
thanks for your reply, I have tubes welded in there at the moment, but very sloppy, would it be possible to put a slightly smaller tube down through them and re- weld, obviously would have to allow the bolts to go through? But I suppose this still may not guarantee the right position.?. I do have a lot of shims behind the outside bracket, 6 in total, none on the inside one…. I have never driven this car as I took it on as a project, does the camber have to be set up by a specialist once the car is done??

                many thanks

Hi, thanks for your info, how did you go about getting the holes in exactly the right place?

I used a tube with the same inside diameter as the bolt, then open up the hole in the arm so the tube fits inside, hope that make sense

                        Hi All,
just an update on my project, have been away from the welding for a couple of months now, so decided to strip and clean all the running gear on the car, replacing all bushes, seals, bearings etc……
so yesterday I decided to have a look at the steering rack, took the gaiters off both sides and they were full of fluid, so obviously a seal problem, after looking through the forum and watching sujitroy video, I stripped the power steering rack and ordered some new seals, all seemed to go very well.. looking forward to the rebuild,
is there a way of testing this once done for leaks off the car.??
and would anyone know where I can get a new cap?. Photo 2

                                Hi Luigi

Good to hear and see your progress again.
I have the exact same rust damage at the very bottom of the LH turret too ! But got bigger fish to fry atm with RH inner arch and various front closing panels under the new battery box. Getting there slowly.
