If your car is a MK1 it would have not had a side strip when new, all models from 1973 onwards had strips..
But if you want a strip gold looks better imho

its seems to be a mk1.5 - not sure if this is as a result of later improvements or because its a change over - Mk1 dash, M2 seats, mK 1 doors, mk2 paint/badges.......... ? Think the reg is May 1972 - but would need to go upstair to check (and I'm too tired!)
I think if its a May 1972 car it would have from the factory a 20lb cooling system, everything else would be Mk1 like dials, seats, map light in glove box lid etc.

Hi Alistair, You know my car. I would suggest for originality, no strip, for appearance a silver strip. Perhaps we can put it to the vote at Mondays meeting.

Personal choice, but I was going to put sill covers and the stripe on mine, but preferred nothing at all! (it's Mallard Blue)

Mine is also going in for respray on Monday, hard top too. Original paint code says it was BRG, and it has beige interior. It is currently a patchwork of different greens, mostly abrighter shade than BRG.

I have neverbeen a fan or BRG, preferring something more like Emerald (I really like Java too). Its probably because old BRG paintlooks so dull. So my dilemma is do I go for original, or a brighternon-standard green?

I must admit the pictures on this post look good; are they BRG? Will a new shinyBRG paint job look good on mine? Decisions decisions. :?

              Hi Chris,

              Why not go for Brooklands?

I agree with you about BRG being a bit dull, but you've seen my car and even though that's not quite Brooklands :?I prefer it to BRG.

If you went for Brooklands then at least it would still be an original Triumph colour. Also, are you doing an engine out respray? cos, if not, the Brooklands exterior would go ok with a BRG underbonnet.

              Waddyathink?

              Cheers

              Julian

Oh and you'd have to have a nice green hood

the pics of the blue one without stripe look good, but there is something "missing" to my eye - not sure if it because the car is also missing sill covers.............. so if anything I'm more confused............

Some people say that Brooklands is not much different to BRG so I am not sure. And at least BRG will be original.I will have a chat to the painter on Monday, and will have to decide soon.

I call it Booklands Racing Green as it seems to be somewhere between the two :?. It was this colour when I bought it but it must have been British Racing Green originally. (Paint code 75)

I really like it but when I had my hardtop resprayed they had to make up the colour.

                      Cheers

I would have fitted sill covers TBH, but its the rust trap issue. Even with sill covers, I do think the Stag looks better without the stripe.

I have thought of instead of sill covers, maybe getting someone to fit chrome effect 'wrap'...you know the stuff thats 'wrapped' over chavs cars!

My mk1 has just had colour put on(black) i won't put stripes on mine but think it would look good with small chrome strip on top of sills. Can anyone tell me if this is standard on a mk1.Car is being delivered back to me tommorow and can't wait to start reasembly.
