The paint theyhaveused is 2 pack but its not been plain sailing.Long story but here goes.
The car was bare metalled about 11 years ago byWardsand we have had a job to match the colour they painted the car. Obviously a match was needed as I havent had inside the boot or the engine bay done.
I had a rattle can that I had used on the car and it more or less matched the colour with a code on the can which turned out to be a Vauxhall colour. Trouble is the paint in the rattle can was made by Max Meyer and my sprayer hates the stuff and refused to use it. He wanted to use VMG paint which he says gives a superior finish straight from the gun. The sprayers Dad works at a paint suppliers and tried to get a match in VMG but couldnt get the colour quite right so we had to use the Max Meyer.
Now the Max Meyer colour is on the car its slightly brighter than the boot and engine bay area so we could have done it in the VMG much to my sprayers disgust.
Car was then wet flatted and polishing started on Friday but sprayer decided to re do the rear wing as he wasent happy with the finish. Now this repaint is costing me £1500 and that includes the hard top (although this needs more work than first thought) which isnt a bad price really considering the work involved, so Im not expecting Rolls Royce quality. Also Ive been able to get involved so Ive seen the car through each stage and been able to point out bits along the way.
My interior is biscuit which does lighten the car up, just cant decide whether to put the black pin stripe back on the outside, leave it plain or use silver.
So thats where I am with it at the moment, hopefully should have the car back later this week for final fitting up.
