Stick with the TR7 - at least you know about the engine (twice over )

I used to have one as a company car. Dreaded it before I got it but after a while I really got to like it once I'd appreciated it was more odf a Dolomite coupe than a TR6 successor :?

Oh and top marks to Mrs B

    Cheers

    Julian

ive collected a set of the small chrome trims that go on top of the sill full length i think they are subtle and wont trap dirt and muck leading to corrosion.like a chrome pinstripe above the sill

Based on my experience of bare metaling this Stag, I am of the opinion that the narrow chrome trims are also bad at attracting corrosion. My car had previously been resprayed back in the 1980's and then left in a semi stripped state in a garage. When I bought it I decided to do a are metal respray. At that point there was no sign of any corrosion on the sills, just shiny dark blue paint. Imagine my disgust when I took the paint off to find a series of holes where the narrow chrome strips had previously been mounted. The sprayer had simply filled them up with filler. Of more concern was the degree of surface corrioson present each side of the those holes.

I think if you are having either type of covers fitted you need to be of the mindset that you remove them once a year to clean out any muck that has accumulated behind them and then apply waxoyl or such like.
