I have given up using PO for parcels I tend to use :- http://www.interparcel.com (no connection). They pick up from Home you can print off your own labels and choose the type of service, A friend of mine who runs his own business had an account with City-Link could not believe how cheap the above link was. there's quite a few around who do a similar service.
I must admit our local postie is great if he has a packet that he cant deliver he will always leave it with one the neighbours. As for christmas cards thats a job for swmbo, If I'm loosing time working on the Stag to fit a new kitchen then card writing seems a reasonable deal.
If you don't here from me for a while then she has read this post.......whats hospital food like these days?.javascript:emoticon('', 'images/emoticons/sad.gif')

Contacted UPS to enquire about the cost of returning a steering rack to Rimmers and was quoted £39.58 +VAT. Went through Interparcel instead and got it for £17.62 including VAT. Guess who the courier is??!!!?!
Paul, many thanks for the heads-up on Interparcel - saved me a fortune.

The ironic thing about this is that it may well be UPS that collects it. I sent a diff last week through Interparcel and it was UPS that collected it. Interparcel were by far the cheapest option.................

As for the Royal Mail. I have sentplenty of parcels recently for ebay itemsand Stag spares and every one has arrived in good time. I use our local village Post Office and they are extremely helpful. I couldn't see our local Postmistress managing a Stag diff though....

              Bloody useless Royal Mail:X:X:X:X:X:X

Paddocks posted a small package to me last Wednesday containing two exhaust clamps and a couple of copper washers. I require those parts to sort out a couple of advisories from the MOT. I had intended to fit the parts this weekend so that I can drive the car once it is taxed on 1st December.

Yesterday whilst on the driveway working on the GT6 I saw our postie doing the first delivery of the day (2pm!:shock. "Parcels, oh they have been left at the depot as we don't have enough staff to deliver them. You might get it on Monday/Tuesday".

F**KING hopeless. I could have walked from Crewe to Chester and back again in that time. SIX DAYS to deliver a parcel travelling 17 miles. What a joke:X

End result is I won't be driving my Stag on the 1st December, it will have to wait until next weekend now when I have time off in daylight to fit the bits.

              GGGRRRRRRRRRRRR:X:X:X:X:X

Their service is getting worse now they have an excuse: I just received this from a reliable ebay seller. :

Iam constantly being asked about delivery times on items at this moment
in time we cannot guarantee any delivery times or chase royal mail items,
with the extreme weather situation that has happened in our end of the country
and elsewhere we are currently a week or more behind with orders.
All transport in and out to ourselves and many others has been greatly
affected because of this and many of the main transport routes were closed
down into scotland,as a result ALL of our orders being processed and that
have been dispatched will be Delayed, the royal mail has millions of items
backlogged and our parcelforce has tens of thousands in there main hubs.

The resulting situation cannot be helped even if there is no snow where you
are or you have ordered stuff from other people and it arrived before ours
it has all to do with distance and the hubs involved.

kindest regards for the season hoping the weather would change soon

I went to the local delivery office on Tuesday to say I had no post for a week (ok the weather was bad here for 3 days last week but the roads had been clear since Saturday) . The first guy said that the van was out and he had been told to deliver to us first.I said it was 12:30 and no sign of him. 10 seconds later another guy appeared with a massive pile of post for me and said that this lot should have gone on the van. No appology just said they don't have enough time to deliver and we were at the end of his round!!!. Only received the club mag yesterday and I used to get it straight away. I did however recieve a parcel of spares for my Landy from A.E.W Paddock in Matlock - came next day by courier for 5 pound delivery charge - quite a big parcel to.

Bruce- try going to your local sorting/delivery office and collecting the parcel yourself if you need it urgently - I know you shouldn't have to but might be worth it in this case.

After Paul's, and others', recommendation, I used Interparcel for a delivery before Christmas. It wasgoing from me to near Birmingham by TNT.

3 weeks later it hadn't arrived and after loads and loadsof hassle they returned it to me - total cock up.

Ok, so far, only TNT's fault however as I'd paid Interparcel I had to take up complaint with them. Three emails, sentover a week, have all been unanswered

I certainly don't intend to use Interparcel again :X

                        Cheers
