Andrew, domestic heating oil might be your answer, worth looking into.
I used to run one on heating Oil I liberated from my parents tank in the garden. It seemed to burn OK and didn't create any soot or anything.
these units are not designed to burn these oil types most of the toxins released will not be visible or smell.the pressures and nozles and spray patterns will be incorrect for complete combustion therefore incomplete cumbustion results with liberation from this process of carbon monoxide and sulphur dioxide to name just a few of the nastys ,these have side effects of death the s/diox turns to acid when in contact with moisture which is also a byproduct of combustion this causes corrosion and eats skin tissue and especialy lungs .the CO will send you into permanent sleep maybe you have wondered why oilfired appliances have chimmneys, there are a host of other toxins expelled .i would consider my options.
