    Hi Bruce,

I had a CAT2immobiliser fitted by a guy near Nantwich which came with a certificate and cost about £130 IIRC.

I have one of these, the previous owner was kind enough to throw it in with the Stag. Has a flashing red light on it with on/off switch.

I was in Aldi yesterday and they have a steering wheel lock for sale. Couldn't say how effective they are, but as a visual deterrent it would make a casual thief move on to the next opportunity.

Maybe, seeing that it is a Stag a casual thief might be inclined to steal it,...They have to pose sometimes you know,...

Seriously, no casual thief would look to take a Stag .......... they would not even consider it for a moment.

                    Hi Bruce

                    Stag anti-theft "Devices"

This topic with it's numerous conciderations can envolve you for days,......WEEKS!!

I think that it is fair to say that most mechanical anti-theft devices offer a degree of "visual deterrent", which does have some value in some circumstances, although I do still recall many years past, how, according to a police report at the time, the original "crook-lok" could be defeated (with a hacksaw) in just 22 seconds!

Let us hope that some of the modern equivalents are an improvement.

However, before you finally decide on which system to go for, here is what I did as a stop-gap measure,.................I paid £15 for a VERY cheap motorbike anti-theft chain and £5 for a sturdy Chubb padlock.

It runs over the Tee-Bar and through the steering wheel.

Ofcourse, a hacksaw through the steering wheel overcomes this in LESS than 22 seconds !!!

                    Happy Staggering !!!!!!!!!!!!

Should have asked one of the 'hoodies' on the nearest street corner. Bet one of them would have done it quicker.............

We've got an Thatcham approved immboliser on our Stag which is very effective but discrete.

When it's parked up anywhere suspect I also bung on one ofthose 'Stoplok' steering wheel locks as a very visible deterent (it covers the entire Stag wheel)

Whatever device you go for best to look forits Thatcham approval rating, which means they've tested it to meet the specifiedstandard

Also keep meaning to follow up on 'trackers', so if the worst happens you should be able to establish where it's got to. Recent ones I believe can be bought for around £100 and require no ongoing contract, as they empower the owner to track their own vehicle via a PC. I think some can alert you by your mobile phone as soon asyour car is moved - which at least gives you a fair chance of alerting the police early.

Possibly with thesecurrent phones I'm wondering whether there's an app that you could use to even track it in real time too ! Not that I'd want to confront the thief but could at least monitor its path and directthe police to it

no need for tracking devices...... just look in the nearest petrol station
