I drive my other cars whether wet, dry, gritted, stormy etc,.....except the Stag, I never drive it in the rain nor when its gritted, I always make a weather check beforeI pull it out.

Do you live in the same country as me?:P England is famous for sunshine one minute and rain within 30 minutes. How the heck do ever get to drive your Stag if you only ever drive it on totally cloudless days and only within a range so that you charge home and get it back inside the garage if you happen to see a rain cloud on the horizon?:P

Lol im afraid im as guilty as Sukh, Bruce, everything hinges on the BBC weather if im going out in the stag or not.,if I had a decent heated garage with plenty of room I would be a bit different but it holds the damp so bad.(excuses)

I sit somewhere in the middle. If its raining i wont go out in it but if it rains while out i don't worry. Both trips to France have been in November and its rained a lot both times. Now i have to use the car occasionally for work I make sure its had a good rinse down weekly

Yes Bruce, guilty as charged. I do not have a garage but have a touchless car cover ( highly recommeded ). I never drive with the hood up!!!!, I think the Stag looks sooo pretty topless,...even when its freezing cold I take her out with the top down. But we do have have rainless days on the trot. If i get caught out in the rain then tough, up goes the hood..

Its hard work taking her out of the cover, putting hood down thenback again and into the cover,...but I enjoy every minute of it.

I am the same I drive it in the summer when it's nice and if I get caught in the rain so be it, but as said earlyer I avoid salt if at all possible. The rain does'nt bother me much but salt sucks.

As for the comment regarding cars and vases, well what can I say??, everyone I would think, have their cars to do with as they wish and drive in whatever weather they see fit. I waited 34 years before I could afford one so I would like it lastas long as possible:Pand maybe be able to give it to my son when I pop my cloggs

I spent 20 years in Eastern Canada where the roads are bleached white by the salt by December each year. Cars lasted 7-9 years before they rusted away! That's with aftermarket rustproofing.
I have a Canadian market 78 MGB that's still on its original sills and paint but it's never seen winter.
It's your call but I'd drive the eurobox or rice burner when there's salt around. Wait until after some prolonged rain before going out. Shouldn't have to wait long in Scotland!:?
It's 34C here today too hot to work on the Stag:X. Roll on winter.

I've never really worried about salt but following on from Nick's comment,I've been in Canada this week and I was amazed at the state of some of the cars I saw. Salt was everywhere and the cars were caked in it. The slightest chip on a car seemed to be rusting in minutes (slight exaggeration but you get my point). I saw a 99 Jagthat obviouslyonly came out in Winter as the salt seemed to be holding it together.

I know that's extreme weather in comparison to ours but it got me thinking.

And after getting your car sorted I dont blame you one bit Moraystag.

Tim,since all the upheaval about blocked roads the last few winters here in the UKI dont think they have been holding back with how much salt they put down, the gritters are out in force the minute it gets chilly round here.

                      Hi all

It's been windy and dry here in the east and has been like that for the last couple of days, but on wednesday evening the roads where gritted.

Can salt be a problem for your carwhen the roads are bone dry or will I have to wash it down after a spin?

                      Hi Mark,

I'm also from Suffolk and although i don't drive my stag if the roads are wet i have managed to get out for a drive locally for the past two Sundays. It's been such a wet winter that I've been eager to get on the road at the first opportunity. On both days i haven't put thehood up but opted for a good jacket and a wooly hat, i have to say that both trips have been brilliant and I've returned with a bigsmile and feeling great. I totally agree that saltcan be disastrous to any car butonthe odd days during the winter that are good you cant better turning that heater up full and enjoying it.

                      John
