So, in the interests of fairness, are any posts saying how good a supplier is going to be deleted as well?
How are we meant to protect fellow Stag owners from parting with their hard earned cash on goods and services that are rubbish?

Just to chuck my few penny-worth into the discussion:

Bad services/goods are often subjective i.e. service or goods that one person considers acceptable may not meet someone else's expectations.
Likewise an experience that one person may have on a particular day when their mood may not be good and something another person says on the other end of a phone may just set them off, could cloud their entire judgement of that particular supplier. As a result their views may be based on opinion and not fact.

We also know that some disputes drag on, in this cyber-world, for a long time after the event, when the supplier may have improved their goods and services. This is obviously unfair to the supplier.

Good feedback is, in my view, less likely to cause offence, despite it also being subjective. Also, people seem less keen to heap praise than they do to sling mud. Human nature I guess.

The moderators have a difficult job of allowing a forum to operate with little interference, but they do have to look after the reputation of the SOC. I don't know what communication has gone on in the background regarding the above editing, but I would hope that the moderators involved have clearly communicated the reasoning to the people whose posts have been edited.

Could I suggest that, if someone asks for information on a particular product or service, anyone with negative views should send their thoughts via a PM? Possibly with the 'PM sent' post as a hint that this has been done. Others could then make contact for clarification if required. This would keep any 'vendor-slagging' off the front page.

        Hi
Just heard you're unsure about criticising traders on the forum. This is a very contentious area and this is how we see it operating

Its OK to relate your experience with a particular trader, good or bad, but be prepared to back it up later if necessary.
Be truthful, polite and refrain from comments
Resist offering advise, let the reader make up their own mind from what you're said.

        I hope this helps

        Carl

I'm closing this thread now as its gone off subject, if you wish to continue please start a new thread.
