The intermediate hangers are a pita, anyone used the polybush & stainless kits?
My cars exhaust is now 24 years old, and won't be long before it's replaced.
I wondered if anyone has photos of an improved intermediate hanger set up?
Does anyone supply the silencers with the heatshield?
jbucki
my first exhaust system that i bought from paddocks had heatshield, but all the bends were the wrong shape so didnt fit,the new one they gave me didnt have the heatshields
I had a new stainless section made up in the end and it fits so well now and no tension anywhere. Also, when you look at the car from behind, you can hardly see the pipe. Very pleased and a quick fix for £50 on a Saturday

The standard hangers are very tricky but not impossible, but I suspect poly bushes there would make it even more difficult to fit. The clearance to the handbrake cable can be very small (one mot tester put it down as advisory), but can be improved by a little twisting of the hanger bracket at the close point (do it off the car), or a slight bit of grinding off.
In the several systems I've refitted or changed, there was always some tension in the pipes, which I never saw as a problem as long as it fitted eventually and importantly as long as it didn't knock against the hole in the cross member. To avoid this I usually fit everything loose, wedge some screwdrivers or whatever in the hole to push over the pipes away from the closest point, then on tightening everything up it doesn't move too much after removing the screwdrivers etc and you have some clearance.
For heat shield exhausts, the straight through sports exhaust from Tony Hart have these on(see trader section). I recently fitted these to mine and they sound awesome!
