Aberdeenshire classic run out today, quality!!!!!!!!

photo.jpgWell gent's went for a good bl;ast today with 9 other tidy Stags and a host of other makes.
4 x E types, Corvette, Mustangs and many more.
Weather was glorious, not a cloud in the sky. Makes it all worth while tinkering all winter.
Stageringabout ( SOC member ) organised this run and it went well with a couple of stop off's for coffee on the way. No hickups as far as I can make out, good day out for sure.
    Good show Alan cheers mate.

      Hi Mike,
It certainly was a great day with a fantastic turn out. It was good to see so many well turned out cars, especially Stags.

Also I managed to sort out my fast idle when I got home.

      Catch up with you again

      Danny
      BTW good photo.

Good stuff Danny, it was nice to meet up with you mate. What was wrong with your idle in the end.
I thought you were managing to bring it down out side the door of the castle just before I left.
Alan says he has posted pics on his web site, but I can't find them.
Are yoiu going to that thing on Thursday. Don't think I'll go as it's a hell of a long way to go for a blether ha ha .

Danny, was it the vacuum pipe being reconnected that fixed your idle?

My idle speed problems was due to operator error! Here is what I did, keep it to your self BTW . After I replaced the carb diaphram I connected up the carb overflow pipe to the elbow vent pipe & vice verca. When the engine was hot it was sucking petrol vapour in to the air intake causing the engine to increace in revs at idle. When I adjusted the idle speed with the engine hot this caused the revs to be too low to to idle when cold and the car would then stall.
Any way fixed now. I also think connecting the vacumn advance/retard pipe helped.

Hi Danny, you may have hit on something there. Perhaps V Mad could arrange a switchover between the two to give you a few extra revs. Tony Hart might be interested. Think about, You get stuck behind a Norfolk Sportscar ( Tractor) just 'kickdown' and at the same time get a little more fuel vapour into the air intakes. Tyre marks on the road and away you go.
We had a good run out in Fife. Seven Stags and a TR6. Whoever decided on the date certainly picked a good one weatherwise.
