Has anyone tried a high performance, large bore 2-barrel downdraft carb on their stag? I am thinking something large bore that can suck a lot of air ie with no choke mechanism or air cleaner, and with intake trumpets?

Hi Chris, For my pennies worth, Be careful. A too large a two barrel carb will slow the air speed through the venturies too much and not completely atomise the fuel. This will loose performance and increase fuel consumption. A better answer is a four barrel,(Edelbrock 500 cuft.,Holley.) but I know fitting is alot more complicated and prohably need a new base welding into the inlet manifold.

Hi Ian. Yes, low engine speeds may not be as good but this is a performance carburettor; so low speed economy is not important. I think this larger two-barrel idea will give best max power because the carb chokes are directly in line with the Stag manifold intake ports. IMO this gives better flow compared to the staggered offset port in the 4-barrell carbs. Maybe I will have to give it a go to prove that it does.Originally posted by stag8manod View PostHi Chris, For my pennies worth, Be careful.
