I like it. Don't get me wrong, always the Stag first but I think it has the look of the era about it. it's a good engine apart from the timing gear issues it had and IIRC it's not an interference engine so no major damage occurs. I would assume it has the ford C3 gearbox as well which is pretty bullet proof. the price is a bit rich I must admit. I'd have one in my collection along with a Jensen Healy

I sit back now and wait for the flack

      Ian.
Bloody hell Ian were we parted at birth?

I love Scimitars, must admit that I prefer the coupe/hard roofed version over the convertible but then I prefer the e-type coupe over the roadster also. better lines.

Are you lot insane re the ford v6? sounds great, it is compact and has power. Costs about as much to fix as the TV8 but doesn't go wrong as oft.

And as for Jensen Healeys I would go for the convertible and I would nurse that ******* of an engine just for the style of the car.

Along with the Stag that would just about be my dream triple garage cos lets face it E-Types are off the menu for at least a decade

I can remember my late father's boss having a Jensen GT (a Healey with fastback styling) as a company car.

I can recall that after a few months "Mr Derek" got rid of it due to it spending more time in the garage than it did on the road.

However, I loved the looks of that car better than the standard Jensen Healey which in my eyes looked like an enlarged Triumph Spitfire.

I'm with the guys who like the Scimitar, but only the GTE. An early tax exempt SE5 would be a great day to day car, useful loadspace, bomb-proof engine and rust free bodywork - what more could you want? Other than your own petrol station!
Bereft of a Triumph of any description.

Always liked Scimitars, especially the original coupe version. The later GTE's looked a bit bloated. V6 sounded good. I preferred the fixed head to the convertible but there again I think the Stag looks better with the hardtop on than off.

He is being a little optimistic with his valuation IMO but all the same it's not that bad a car.

I shall I admit that I prefer the Stag myself but I can see why he reckons it is a better car to the Stag. OK it may not quite have it in the looks department, but with the trusty V6 they don't sound too bad (how many of those engines are in Stags now...?), and moreover they do not have the reputation that the Stag does.

But come on, that's like saying you'd rather have a VW Coupe over a Ferrari! You only live once...
