When I was at the RR the guy checked my plugs and said the gap was a bit big (0.8mm), I thought that a slightly larger than standard gap would be a good thing assuming the rest of the HT system was in good order. Have I been stupid? Could my problems be down to the plug gap?
BTW I'm using NGK BP5E as recommended by LDparts and others.ZF 4 spd box, Datsun shafts, SS exhaust, 38DGMS weber 158.9bhp, BMW MC Tomcat seatssigpic

FWIW Tony Hart always used to recommend Champion plugs because he found that NGK could cause the fault you have. May be worth contacting him direct for his current opinion.

...and I too have found that NGK plugs don't suit my car. They last about 1000 miles before behaving as you describe - I've tried two sets and now use Champions - never had a problem since. I know others find the other way around but I'd suggest you try the Champions.Originally posted by DJT View PostKev,
