I don't know how many years they have had rolling roads at the national, but the last two which I have been too, no ones stag blew up. A couple of minor water leaks but that is all.

        Hi all
Just got back from National after spending an extra couple of days with the familly.
With a lot of deliberation and moral suport from Andrew s i put my stag on the rolling road because i thought it was in need of a tune up.
After the first run the guy noticed one of the breather hoses was sucking in air so he put a clip on it and gave it another run and it acheived 143.9.
Glad i done it now but was a bit worried at the time.
By the way the engine is totally standard.

        Andy.

It always fascinates me how people are scared of rolling roads, does nobody ever overtake in their stags?
At full throttle it takes my efi stag approx 10 seconds to get from 3000rpm to 6000rpm in third gear, in my stromberg fed stag engined estate, which probably weighs similar to the stag with hardtop fitted, it takes about 15 seconds (both have 3.45 diffs).
Each run on the rolling road takes less time than this, and happens once or twice per year, yet my cars get a good thrashing on a regular basis. If it breaks on the rolling road, it was going to break anyway sooner rather than later.
I must add, however, that both the stag and the TR,s engines are protected by an overrev limiter set at 6600rpm, as it is not unusual for me to inadvertently hit the limiter when overtaking. I prefer to watch where I am going rather than the rev counter when overtaking, and I have had a faulty rev counter where the engine hit the limiter at an indicated 5700rpm, which could have been bad news as it happened on a track day. This is particularly relavent on the TR where I am using the original dial with electronic internals, and everything after 5500 is in the red anyway!
