    Not car related, but if it's any comfort, in the seventies, I wanted to fit shelves in the lounge, I was worried sick about drilling through the wiring so I turned off the power - then spent ten minutes cursing because the bloody drill had packed up

      But at least you didn't melt them all together so the next owner would have a nightmare intermittent fault like i had for the first year or so.

            Yes I can guess that would be next to impossible to troubleshoot.

            I soldered mine, wrapped the joints in electrical tape and then rebound the loom with loom tape. I can't guarantee the welding back of the new panel won't destroy all that hard work but I have tried to make sure the loom is not near the areas I am welding

              My claim for NUMPTY IS

              recently fitted new rear fog lights, tested them all worked OK

              went for a drive ,put rear fog lamps on ACE all working well

              switched on the Lucas square eight fog and spot lights on DIM AS A ONE CANDLE

              AH WELL , I THOUGHT WILL SORT OUT THAT TOMORROW ,MUST HAVE DISTURBED SOMETHING

              RACKED MY BRAINS ALL NIGHT

              can you guess the fault?
