Just back from a New Year's Day blast in the Stag, after doing a stint at spud-bashing as we have a houseful for lunch. What a difference to last year when we were knee deep in snow and ice. I don't think the gritters have been out yet this year. Will it continue, or is there a sting in the tail still to come?

Spring is on the way. As I walked home at 5.15 this morning the birds were singing. The sparrows sounded good as well!
