Thanks Bob - the "comments" were some years ago and I am sure things have moved on - on the upside, on three occasions (at last years MOT, while on Southends "Golden Mile" and at one of you're Brands Days), people came up to me to try and buy it

Really pleased you have organised Brands for this year as well - can't wait - will do the usual for tickets / passes, thanks again !
Cheers Ian

Thanks for the positive comments Steve, Jason, Scarts, dave and BobH - I think what got me most was forum users posting pictures of my car to have a pop at it - with number pate in full view etc my agreed value + any future resale value could be affected - I am sure I'll calm down soon
+ if Ihad the money / time I would love to do a TV8 super charger jobbie with normal bonnet etc (so I'm not all bad !!!)

Pleased to hear that Ian
As Staghound asked, what's under the bonnet ? I recall seeing the 3500 badges at the wing bases, so guess it's a Rover lump. From directly following you around Brands last summer, I suspect your exhaust is a modified one too so would be good to discover what the mods are and see some pics of the engine bay.
By the way, mine has a Rover V8 and Edelbrock carb.

Ian - it is SD1 RV8 (with SUs) and 5 speed SD1 box - so nothing too special. As seen, the PO didn't do the "proper" reduced height mounts / flatter carb manifold to keep the standard bonnet. I love "playing" with the exhaust system and have made up my own many times - at Bobs last Brands day (didn't realise you were behind meOriginally posted by piscean57 View PostPleased to hear that Ian

) it had, from the tubular manifolds, two into a home made x piece, onto two modded silencers into the two 4" tubes you probably noticed
at the back. Currently it has the stanard silencers onto the two 4 " tubes - giving a slightly subtler noise - because I change things regularly I guess it'll be different again for Brands this year !!

Ian,
You can see me behind you in the 2nd picture I posted. Apparently Faversham's did the conversion work on mine for the PO, and did get it all set down so the standard bonnet works with no mods. Here's a pic ...

Apart from the manifold / headers of course I am assuming mine has the standard Triumph exhaust, and exhaust note is one of the noticable differences between the RV8 and TV8 with the RV8 being a fair bit quieter. Not meaning to offend
but I didn't like how yours sounded at Brands, and would like to hear it with the current set-up.
When funds allow I would like to get a modified exhaust (standard tail pipes though) just to try and get the sound closer to the TV8. I was thinking that the standard set-up with reduced size or packing content of the silencers might do it.

Ian - a useful comment about not liking the "noise" last year - something I haven't heard as I've always been drivingOriginally posted by piscean57 View PostIan,

. Was it just "too loud" or other issues ? You are quite right about the difference between exhaust note between RV8 and TV8, I too prefer the TV8 sound but, alas, from all my investigations to date whether its the flat plane cranks, firing orders etc etc etc we cannot get close to the TV8 burble with an RV8 (now I have probably started another discussion !!)
Apologies to edd for rather "hijacking" his original thread / post

I am glad someone has been trying to replicate the sound but, for me at any rate, it's an interesting topic. Maybe it deserves a seperate threadOriginally posted by staggering View PostYou are quite right about the difference between exhaust note between RV8 and TV8, I too prefer the TV8 sound but, alas, from all my investigations to date whether its the flat plane cranks, firing orders etc etc etc we cannot get close to the TV8 burble with an RV8 (now I have probably started another discussion !!)
