Nice to read such a good post on 2500 Stags,Yup u guessed I have one.Im about to start my third year of ownership and cant fault it for SPH (smiles per hour). It sounds good it's frugal averaging 28-30 mpg on a run and its dependable.Only fault i have had is those ruddy rivits in the fuse box causing electrical gremlins. The problem will be resolved soon as I am upgrading to a blade fuse box that I am adapting.DTait I second that emotion the 2500 Stag is the car I always wanted :-).

Hi DTait, Thanks for all the info, I have a Stag with a Cylinder head that will not come off, I have no faith in the V8 Motor at all and I was looking around to see what other people like your self have done, I am very impressed with the idea of keeping the car all Triumph and like your idea's, There is one thing I would like to know and that is, Is there a weight difference between the V8 and the Straight 6 and if so does it change the handling of the car or the way it sits on its suspension ?.
I have an opportunity to get a rusty 1976 2500 TC with 4 speed manual, will this be the right donor car ?
I know these post are a bit on the old side now but I hope you are still getting notices for this as I would love to know these answers.
        Many Thanks.
        Kind Regards.
        Steve.

suppose you can still rev it up even if it won't go backwards? How's the gearbox issue progressing?

            Hi Steve,

I think the TV8 (446 lbs) is a bit heavier than the 2000 straight six (403 lbs), don't think the 2500 is much heavier. See this link for some indication on engine weights, can't say how accurate these figures are though...

            Cheers,
            Joakim

                Hi Ian

Not revved it for quite a while now It's been at Geartech at the Ikon Trading Estate near Kiddy since last Friday. When I took it there they said it should take about 2 weeks, so hopefully I'm halfway there now. The drive looks strangely empty without it - even when it was broken it was still nice to look at - 70's art!

P.S. I'm copying this to my original thread too
