OK, have been outside and started engine and it was ticking over at 40psi from cold. Revved it up slowly and it veryt very slowly crept up to 50psi. With dash pulled out there was clearly no oil showing. Undid the pipe nut slowly and I could see the oil come up to the gauge and just nipped it up as it reached. Turned engine off and you could see oil and air in pipe line. Turned engine back on and she is tick over at 45psi still cold and when revved to 1800 to 2000 revs, she is showing 55-55 psi.

I will comment that my Smiths gauge is so slwo in reacting to a reading. If I turn the engine off, its just as slow go down as going up

I do appreciate that the new pumps are too high, but would love to see say 60psi as a max as its over half of what my gauge says. I have no idea why my previous brand new Smiths gauge read higher by 5psi. I know the gauge I am using now is OK as it also reads the same as the one I have from Julian.

If someone made a 60psi relief spring, it could be used on all new oil pumps

    Cheers

If you want it higher you can put a thin washer under the relief valve spring, but as said 45-50 is perfect as is 15-20 at idle (both hot)
