Thanks for the feed back, i think you could use a Loctite product that is designed to wick its way between the cap and the housing i have used this and it works very well. I have staked many parts on reciprocating equipment, large industrial compressors etc, so I was curious as to what this tool is. I think that a good quality punch with a 60 degree point on it would handle the job along with using the loctite product would hold them in place. The hard part seems to be holding the U joint in a central position while staking it but that could be overcome by using a washer or round plate the correct thickness on a flat steel surface so that it fits into the bore of the housing on the opposite side to where you are staking then turn it over and repeat. 6 stake marks should do it. It could be worth a try. What do you think ?
