thinking about it I have a spare shaft which is undamaged - I started to re-build the pump then gave up an bought a new one.

If you want it it's yours plus I have gaskets and one of the LD parts ceramic seals if you want - just needs a new cage or an undamaged one

    Let me know

as far as I know the original pumps never had a makers name stamped into the shaft, I think that ZEPHYR made replacement pump shafts in the late 70/80s. I would not refit that pump shaft.

Hey Al - you know that shaft needs to be binned! I'd use it as an excuse to raid Steve's garage for a kit

Decision made and Steve Stagdad external water pump on order

Not knowing how the teeth became chipped has knocked my confidence with the pump now, and can't keep pulling the pump to see if it is alright in the future. I already have a bracket to relocate the alternator thanks to Alan Thomas from a while ago, so abit of work to do now.

Still got to sort out the steering rack as well due to loss of fluid the other day...

Thanks for the replies and advice guys, and the pm's, this forum is great!

            Cheers...Al

Daddypump fitted, steering rack fixed and all back together. went for a little blast this afternoon to make sure all was ok, and apart from a couple of jubilees needing tightening all dry so far.

Daddypump works a treat and looks the part - what should have been fitted when the stag was made! Temperature between 1/4 and 1/2.

Well pleased. Off to Somerset in it tomorrow to test it out properly....
